What Is Cross Stitching?
Cross Stitching is the art of making X or / shaped lines using embroidery floss to create patterns on a substrate. The typical substrate of choice is aida cloth as it's already a grid, but you can stitch on just about anything using water soluble grid paper. Plastic canvas is another good option and can be used with yarn for bigger art.
What's flosstube?
A popular sub-community on YouTube dedicated to cross-stitch, embroidery, and needlework. Enthusiasts and designers share videos showcasing their works-in-progress (WIPs), finished projects (Fos), "hauls" of new supplies, and tutorials. It serves as a social, hobbyist hub for stitching inspiration.
Want to learn to quilt?
I was taught how to cross stitch by my mom when I was very young. I didn't have any fancy videos or anything to watch, but there are tons of resources out there. I will plan to try and make a quick video to place here of my own, but for now, here is a video from one of my favorite Flosstubes - Caterpillar Cross Stitch.
