What Is Quilting?
Quilting is the art of stitching together layers of fabric to create something both beautiful and functional. Traditionally made with three layers—the quilt top, batting, and backing—quilts are held together through carefully placed stitches that form patterns, textures, and designs.
At its heart, quilting is a blend of creativity and craftsmanship. It can tell a story, preserve memories, or simply add warmth and comfort to everyday life. From modern geometric designs to heirloom-style patterns passed down through generations, quilting allows makers to express their style while honoring a long-standing textile tradition.
More than just a blanket, a quilt is a labor of love—bringing together fabric, patience, and imagination to create something meant to be used, cherished, and shared.
Want to learn to quilt?
I finally decided to figure out how to quilt and was searching the internet for how to do it. I ran across Melanie Ham's First Quilt Tutorial. Her tutorial was suuuuuuper helpful. I purchased a charm pack from Walmart and followed this tutorial. I am going to embed them all below, but each view will count against her Youtube. I made sure that I wasn't taking any views from her. Unfortunately, in her comment section I learned that she has since passed away, but her family has allowed her videos to stay up so she can keep spreading the joy of this craft.
